Boomerang

Before they were born
she pulled his arm across her
bent at the elbow
hand at her collarbone
kissed the skin of his wrist
and whispered this is by design
so when she tore him from her
flung him far into the air
he would understand longing
to be the shape of that embrace
calling him to her, hurtling him
back
