Driving down to the mall for a burger
Sitting in the backseat
40-year-old teenager
my parents sit in front , my mother
talks about neighbors
Connie doesn’t like the word dementia
So many variables
I stare out the window at the mountains
How beautiful the light is, hitting
Trees, brick buildings, windows.
Well, then what word should we use?
The sun lights up the bottom of the mountains,
Craggy brown rocks seep through snow.
There are just so many variables.
Bickering
Breaking through
All that light
